Flat Tummy Demystified – Does Genetics Affect the Body you want?
For many of us who cannot lose weight and can not obtain a flat tummy, we often blame our genetics, but is this true? Do generics really play a part in the body we want and grave?
The sad truth is that we live in a time where a great majority of people are overweight, and unfortunately for many of us genetics do play a part in losing weight and getting the flat tummy we desire. Why? Just like heart disease and diabetes are past down our lineage, so does the ability to produce leptin. (Leptin is a protein in our body that helps us lose weight easier and faster. When the body produces too little leptin, losing weight and obtaining a flat belly becomes an excruciatingly hard task) Research has shown that when both parents are obese, the child has an eighty percent chance of also suffering from obesity.
However, before you lose hope of ever losing weight and obtaining a flat tummy, there are several things you can do to escape and “cheat” your genetics.
1. Eating healthy- we are well aware that the main reason why there are so many overweight individuals is because we have bad eating habits that ruin our chances of getting a flat tummy. This means that many of us prefer to eat foods rich in saturated fats and bad carbohydrates. Therefore if you want to lose weight and obtain a flat belly the first thing you need to do is eat more fruits and vegetables rich in protein and fiber. Avoid white bread, pasta, and rice. By eating more healthy foods you can escape your genetic and obtain the flat tummy you always wanted.
2. Exercise- many of us are either to busy, too tired, or simply don’t care to exercise, which is a no-no if you want to lose weight and have a flat tummy. The reason why exercise is so important is because if we eat more calories than we burn, dose extra calories turn into fat which makes us gain weight. (Too much weight and you will mot have a flat tummy)
3. Get help- we have already discuss that our genetics do play a role on how leptin is produce in our body. Therefore, if you have a problems losing weight or come from an obese family, there are different types of hormone therapy’s you can attend that will help you regulate your body’s hormones/proteins. 4. Get 7½ hours or more of sleep each night- recent research has shown that hormones to most of the work at night, therefore sleep enough hours and lose weight and get a flat tummy. (Sleep and dream of a flat tummy that is soon to come)
5. Last but not least, avoid as much stress as possible- stress produces too much insulin, adrenaline, and cortisol. These hormones will make you hungry, which means you will eat more than you are supposed to. (say bye-bye to that flat tummy)
As you can see, although genetics do in fact play a role on how fast a person loses weight, it does not mean that genetics condemn us to live a life with a floppy belly and extra pounds. In the contrary, genetics simply means that, for many of us, its harder to lose weight than to gain weight. So if you are one of those many people who blame genetics, don’t! Instead, get moving, get motivated, and stick to a plan that will let you lose weight and get a flat belly.
